Hong Kong - Day 1

Hello again, Hong Kong!  We're back for another conference and maybe a tiny bit of fun.  Before I succumb to jetlag I thought I'd write a quick post for the day.

We (my boss and I) landed safely at a 15 and a half hour flight.  I managed to sleep some, but it's never quite enough.  However as we landed I was lucky enough to catch a little bit of the sunrise over the mountains.

After we checked into the hotel, it was time to head to Kowloon and a little shopping.  Just for the fun of it, we took the Star Ferry across the bay.

We wandered around a bit and enjoyed the sights of this community center courtyard.

Then enjoyed a stroll through a local market set up in the streets.  I'd been here last year, but once again I was amazed by the sizes and colors of the fruit.  I don't think I've ever seen grapes that big.  Or eggplants quite such an electric shade of purple.  And of course, I'm stil fascinated by the butchers.

More shopping and walking, followed by a nap and dinner.  It's just about time for me to crash and try to get some sleep.  We're going to try to head out the Tian Tan Buddha tomorrow.  Hopefully I'll have lots of new photos as we're planning on taking the cable cars up the mountain.  So for now... Welcome to Hong Kong!
